Abstract:

The quality of a network service is the most important factor to determine reliability in the process of transferring data packets. The selection of routing protocols is a determining factor in large networks. The implementation of Virtual Link in the Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) Multiarea Routing Protocol can be a solution and alternative to implementing Single Area OSPF and Multiarea OSPF. OSPF Multiarea using virtual links can connect areas that are separated by the backbone area created by implementing OSPF Multiarea. Virtual links use link-states to link separate areas. The results of the research on OSPF Multiarea Virtual link in OSPF area 1 with router-id 1.1.1.1 located on Router-A have a link-state to OSPF area 2 with router-id 3.3.3.3 located on Router-C. And OSPF Multiarea can summarize the routing table in a router device, this aims to minimize too many routing tables if using OSPF Single area in such a large network service.
