Abstract:

In the field of position and speed control resolvers are used. Resolvers are electromagnetic positioning sensors that are widely used in applications subjected to severe mechanical stress, environmental pollution, and wide temperature changes. Resolvers are divided into wound rotor (WR) and variable reluctance (VR) types. Although the variable reluctance resolvers have a more compact size, their accuracy is lower than that of the wound rotor type. Accordingly, this paper will try to improve the accuracy of variable reluctance resolver. First, the physical characteristics of a commercial resolver sample will be extracted by studying catalogs and other available documents. After obtaining the specifications, it is necessary to study the intended resolver in the simulation software environment and its performance and compare it with the specifications in the catalog. Based on the information obtained from that investigation, including the harmonic spectrum of the output voltage, and obtaining the analytical relationship of the shape of the rotor with these components, the accuracy of the resolver will be increased by changing the structure of the rotor.

I. Introduction

In modern control systems, the presence of closed control loops stands as a crucial and indispensable component. The effectiveness of these loops relies on the data they receive, primarily in the form of feedback from sensors and detectors [1]. Calculating the angular displacement and absolute position of a rotating element (such as a motor shaft) is unavoidable in many applications, and various methods have been proposed for this purpose depending on the specific application of the system.
