Abstract:

In this work, we will present our active learning method and the tools for a microcontroller-based course in engineering domain. An active learning model based on updated Bloom taxonomy is designed. In this way, we aim to educate engineers specifically in designing purposes. A semester period is planned for the active learning model. In the course, an economical and portable microcontroller development set and programming user interface were developed for each student to use individually, which is assembled by students. In addition, training materials have been designed for the active using of this set. Each of these materials is designed for a phase of the Bloom taxonomy. The positive effect of the model developed for this course on learning is found to be close to 90% measured by the questionnaires. Microcontroller education, known to be difficult to learn, has been seen to be taught more efficiently with the developed active learning model.
