Abstract:

Implantable antennas are becoming essential components for the design of sensors within implantable medical devices. They facilitate real-time monitoring and control of vital physiological parameters, by enabling wireless communication and data transmission within the human body. A review of current research on implantable medical devices and capsule endoscopy is discussed in the present work. In particular, significant improvements are shown regarding miniaturization techniques, biocompatibility, sensor capabilities, frequency band, and wireless communication. Current issues and future directions also highlighted. The existing achievements are promising for personalized medicine, early disease detection, and minimally invasive diagnostics, thus leading to a true healthcare revolution.
