Abstract:
Network virtualization is aimed to introduce a layer of abstraction between applications and physical hardware, which could create, provision, and manage networks in term of flexibility and reliability. In this paper, we focused on the studies in survivable virtual network embedding methods for various modern networks such as 5G slicing networks, resilient optical network, and data center networks. We first introduced the basic definition of virtual network embedding, and then we explained the survivable virtual network embedding algorithms of protection or recovery mechanisms, especially in multi-link failures. We discussed the strengths and limitations of the survivable virtual network embedding algorithms and also concluded the potential future research directions.
