Abstract:

Due to the reduction of attenuation of perfluorinated GRIN (PFGI) plastic optical fibre (POF), a data transmission rate of 1.25 Gbps over 244 m PFGI-POF with Gigabit Ethernet was successfully accomplished. As the transmission length of PFGI-POF is expanded, we have developed a unique space saving cable branch system for premises wiring. A small form factor wall outlet and plug for residential areas are also developed. Since this system requires no room for installing patch panels and racks, it is suitable for a building such as a condominium.
