Abstract:

Bitwise operations have extensive applications in various fields of computer science. However, performing specific-purpose bitwise operations often requires scheduling of Central Processing Unit (CPU) and multiple computation steps of Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU), thus the efficiency would undoubtedly decreases when dealing with substantial computational workloads. An acceleration circuit for seven specific bitwise operations is proposed in this paper, aiming to improve the calculation speed of bitwise operations. The simulation verification results shows that the acceleration ratio of the acceleration circuit to ALU exceeds 1.66, confirming the high performance of our deigned circuits in acceleration effect on aspect of bitwise operations.
