Abstract:
The Internet of Bio-Nano Things (IoBNT) is a type of network in which the nanomachines are no longer artificial but based on biological cells built through the procedures of synthetic biology. As the concept of IoBNT becomes more popular several challenges arise. One of the most interesting challenges concerns the adoption of a novel communication paradigm called molecular communication. Following this new paradigm, the interface between the constrained IoBNT and the traditional Internet is not straightforward. One approach to interface between the IoBNT and the Internet is to use a gateway that senses the byproducts of chemical reactions on the monitored environment and use data fusion techniques as a way to decide if there was communication in IoBNT network. In this paper we propose a novel framework that applies indirect sensing data in high-level information techniques to make decisions about the state of a given monitored environment.
