Abstract:

Due to numerous benefits, including high efficiency, maintenance-free operation, high controllability, and high-power factor, permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSM) are widely used in various industries. The two topologies of flux switching permanent magnet linear machine (FSPMLM) with and without flux gaps are proposed and compared in this paper. Then the basic operating principle is analyzed. Genetic optimization is used to globally optimize the design parameters of both machines. Then the electromagnetic performance of the motor is investigated by the finite element analysis through JMAG software. Analysis reveals that in comparison of FSPMLM with flux gaps, the FSPMLM without flux gaps exhibits larger thrust force, smaller detent force.
