Abstract:

This PCI Express Receiver Channel Signal Quality Validation Method is a new way to estimate the Receiver(RX) channel quality except for the traditional method which uses the Bit Error Rate Tester(BERT) to verify the Receiver(RX) channel quality by reaching the 1E-12 Bit Error Rate(BER). This method introduces a test fixture(Interposer board) to have a way to capture the compliance waveforms from device Transmitter(TX) side to CPU Receiver(RX) side. Then use the Sigtest Phoenix [4] tool which published by PCI-SIG to analyze the compliance waveforms and then get an accurate report from it. This method can give us a quick, reliable, and visible point of view to judge our receiver channel design quality. In other hand, it also can give us a direction to improve our receiver channel design.
