AI‐Empowered Drones for Versatile Oil and Gas Use Cases

The oil and gas (O&G) industry is facing several business and technical challenges. The shortage of skilled workers and the remoteness of oil fields along with the decline in oil prices are being seen as a huge challenge for the sustenance of oil and gas companies. The quality and quantity of oil and gas resources have been decreasing consistently with the earlier maturity of giant oil and gas fields. Therefore, the primary focus of the oil and gas industry is to initiate and implement real business transformation by embracing digital technologies and tools. That is, digitally transformed oil and gas companies can sharply cut down cost and improve revenue collections through fresh avenues. Further on, all kinds of technological advancements in the digital space can significantly increase the productivity factor. In the previous chapter, we discussed the role and responsibility of AI‐enabled robots for the struggling oil and gas industry. In this chapter, we will investigate how powerful drones can support the oil and gas sector to face various challenges.
