Abstract:

This session is intended to engage engineering educators in a lively discussion about the use of engineering concepts and methodologies that can be applied to the practice of engineering education. The discussion will be framed by an introduction to learning engineering-an emerging branch of engineering that leverages general engineering principles as well as discipline-specific practices rooted in the learning sciences. The process and practice of learning engineering applies the learning sciences, using human-centered engineering design methodologies, and data-informed decision-making to support learners and their development. The goal of the session is for engineering educators to consider and debate the ways in which they might improve educational outcomes using engineering.
