Abstract:

Using an Overhead Crane (OC) to lift too heavy items can cause the rotation of the drive motor to become unstable and cause overheating and vibration. If this abnormal condition occurs frequently, it will shorten the life of the OC drive motor. So, it is necessary to monitor conditions in real time. However, the OC's position above the level makes it difficult for technicians to monitor temperature, vibration, and motor speed. This study proposes a solution: designing an IoT-based monitoring system on temperature, vibration, and motor speed. PLC integrates input and output equipment and processes data. The PLC sends the data to the IoT Thingsboard platform via node-red. As a result, the IoT-based monitoring system on OC can monitor from anywhere through the Thingsboard web and Quick diagnosis several problems (Productivity) and reduce the frequency of high-place work (safety). Temperature, vibration, and motor speed data are displayed on the Thingsboard web. In addition, errors in reading temperature, vibration, and motor speed are still within safe limits, 0.19%, 3.57%, and 0%, respectively.
