Abstract:
The study aims to enhance Metabolic Radiotherapy (RTM) using Iodine-131 for thyroid cancer by estimating the Absorbed Dose (AD) prior to treatment, in contrast to the standard dosing at the Instituto Oncológico Nacional de Panamá (ION). Employing MATLAB, radiographic images are analyzed through ’’dicomread’’ and a multifunctional planning system. The trials involve MATLAB processing to calculate pixel averages and establish the relationship between pixel intensity and absorbed dose. The objective is to apply this methodology to thyroid scintigraphy with Iodine-131, providing tumor-related information. Coupled with pretreatment processing, the aim is to achieve accurate administration of 1-131 individually per case treated, potentially enhancing clinical outcomes and reducing side effects.
