Abstract:
Static bending microcantilever sensors can be used as biosensors. The immobilization of liposomes allows the detection of α-synuclein, a causative agent for the Parkison's diseases. By utilizing an array sensor, multiple conditions can be determined. This requires a system capable of taking simultaneous measurements from the individual cantilever sensors. In this study, a newly designed multi-cantilever measurement system is developed, comprising a microcontroller, a load cell amplifier ADC, and a multiplexer. By using a Wheatstone bridge configuration, a 130 times lower temperature dependence could be achieved compared to a previously used measurement system based on a digital multimeter. With an unloaded microcantilever, a resistance-change rate standard deviation of 1.2 ppm was achieved. These results suggest that the system is sufficient for the simultaneous measurement of microcantilever-based biosensors.
