Abstract:

Wireless technologies working at frequencies between 24 GHz and 28 GHz, are gaining increasing interest in the field of Wireless Power Transfer, overlapping with the new fifth-generation mobile technology (5G). The diffusion of all these new electromagnetic (EM) sources reinforced the need to investigate their possible effects on population's health. Numerical dosimetry allows to investigate this aspect, but the characteristics of the signal at the frequencies relevant for these new technologies present a complex challenge. In this study we evaluate the effect of different body surfaces on the reflection of an incident plane wave at 24 GHz. The results obtained showed that the shape and degree of curvature may influence the distribution of the external electric field.
