Abstract:
A simple approach for detecting and suppressing interference in a Global Positioning System (GPS) terminal is shown in this paper. Simulations are performed using the L1 band frequency of 1.575 GHz. An easy-to-use software application with Graphical User Interface (GUI) has been developed for the simulations, which allows the user to easily set up the variables, such as the array size, number of jamming signals, their directions, etc. A MUSIC algorithm has been used to detect the direction of incoming interfering signals. A null-steering technique using pattern synthesis is then applied to achieve the correct antenna pattern nulling to target the calculated direction of arrival. The developed software is an excellent tool to train staff in both civilian and defense companies and for usage in research and educational settings. The software uniquely combines both MUSIC direction of arrival and array pattern synthesis techniques to support demonstration and optimization of anti-jamming arrays.
