Abstract:

Metasurfaces (MS) are two-dimensional structures having a single layer of subwavelength elements such as metallic or dielectric antennas, arranged in a periodic pattern. Metasurfaces are essential in wireless communication to improving the system’s performance. This work aims to provide a mini review in the design of metasurface based gain enhanced antenna for contemporary wireless communication systems. The paper discusses various literatures contributed towards gain enhancement using metasurfaces as different configuration. Further it provides a brief discussion on possible applications of metasurfaces and their design challenges. This review will provide the readers with information on current trends in metasurface based antenna design for effective communication.
