Abstract:
This paper aims to evaluate the metrological performance of newly proposed Sparse Fourier Transform for a possible use for spectral measurements. An algorithm implementing the Sparse Fourier has been selected and several simulations and some experimental tests have been carried out, with the aim of determining the frequency resolution, the detectability and the accuracy provided by this transform, with different values of the Signal-to-Noise Ratio and of the signal sparsity provided to the algorithm. The results have been compared with those obtained by the Fast Fourier Transform.
