Abstract:

One of the chronic diseases that has been increasing in each year and is the cause of 60% of morbidity worldwide is rheumatoid arthritis, which has been affecting mostly older people, limiting them to perform some activity due to the strong pain or swelling generated by this disease due to the erosion of the bone in the part of the hand. The treatment of patients in medium or advanced state is based on medications or therapies to relieve pain or delay this disease, in addition to the fact that their diagnosis by the doctor is based on the experience they have when treating patients with this disease through palpation or x-rays that would complicate the patient by misdiagnosing the patient's condition, even worse knowing that this disease is progressive, being worrying. In view of this problem, in this article a hand radiography image processing system was made for the early detection of rheumatoid arthritis, in such a way that the doctor accurately detects the state of this disease to perform the appropriate treatment to the patient and prevent this disease from worsening to the point of causing bone erosion or deformity in the joints of the hand. Through the development of the system, it was observed that it works in the best way and detects with an efficiency of 96.78%, resulting in a reliable and safe system to diagnose rheumatoid arthritis early in patients who have this disease.
