Abstract:

Nowadays, electrified railway and trains plays an important role in human life such as public transportation with high efficiency, high speed and less CO2 gas emission. However, the increasing of capacity and widening of electrified railway grids needs to use high efficient and reliable power converter. In this work, a combined structure between a multicellular DC/DC power converter and classical step-down DC/DC converter is used to assure a feeding with DC Medium Voltage (MVDC) of electrified railway with high efficiency and more reliability. As an active fault tolerant control (FTC), when a failure in power switches or flying capacitor of multicellular converter is occurring the classical topology works to assure the providing of railway with MVDC. A simulation results with MATLAB prove the increasing reliability and high efficiency of proposed DC/DC converter with fault tolerant control.
