Abstract:
This paper proposes a single-phase, single-stage, low-frequency ac to high-frequency AC converter for induction cooking applications. The converter can achieve active power factor correction at the input and produce high-frequency resonant voltage at the output. An output resonant filter is provided to filter the high-frequency current drawn by the load so that the converter does not have to carry this current. The converter employs sinusoidal pulse width modulation technique for generating gate pulses. The control structure of the converter for induction cooktop application is explained. Experimental results obtained from a two-stove 2\times 2 \mathrm{k}\mathrm{W} induction cooker converter validate the feasibility of the proposed solution.
