Delhi Transco Limited Initiatives for Centrally Automatized Disaster-Resilient Power Systems

Delhi Transco Limited (DTL) has an uphill task of maintaining the power transmission reliability of the national capital of India. In recent times, power blackouts are seen as disastrous scenarios; and limiting the area coverage of a blackout is a key research topic. DTL initiatives for avoiding the blackouts and making the transmission system smart have been discussed in this paper. For this, DTL is using the features like creation and survival of the power islands; and development of intelligent system for centralized decision and control of power grids. With an aim to become a smart transmission utility, DTL has planned to establish a state-of-the-art Delhi State Switching and Asset Management Centre (DSSAMC). This is a futuristic step in making the transmission network automatic, reliable, and smart.
