Abstract:

Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Blockchain (BC) applications are several of the widely sought components of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR). As with any nascent technology, security challenges arise and expose their vulnerabilities, impacting the security of national governments, businesses, and individuals. This paper produced a systematic literature review to identify the primary technical security challenges regarding RPA and Intelligent Automation (IA) and its implementation within business organizations. The review found eight significant technical challenges in the literature. Robust logging, auditing, and access control were the most frequently discussed challenges. Based on the results, BC technologies have considerable potential to be a viable solution to address RPA and IA’s logging and auditing challenges to mitigate data leakage and digital fraud within organizations.
