Abstract:

A lean layer of tissue on the rear side of the human eye is the retina, and might be impacted by retinal diseases. The most prevalent retinal complication is age-related macular degeneration (AMD), which impairs eyesight which is the major reason for vision impairment in those over 50. The wet and dry, DRUSEN and AMD respectively are the two categories of AMD. Diabetes-related macular edema (DME), which can harm the fovea, is brought on by accumulation of excess fluid in the macula. Untreated, it may result in eyesight impairment. Therefore, it is crucially important to diagnose disorders early. Our main objective is to assist physicians in identifying these illnesses early on, before they progress to a more serious stage. This paper reviews the methods and approaches for classifying diseases that affect the retina using optical coherence tomography (OCT) images and deep learning algorithms. Various deep learning techniques utilized for the enhancement of patient care were reviewed.
