Abstract:
Alarm clocks are used worldwide to alert people at the specified time and mainly used to wake people up in the precise time. The most commonly used medium for alarms are mobile and clock. Those alarms produce sound to alert the individual which disturbs the other people who actually do not need an alarm. A research by National Institute of Industrial Health in Japan says waking up to a jolting noise can be bad for one's heart. To overcome this, soundless alarms which alerts a person by using vibrating mechanism; those alarms are designed in a wearable fashion. There are few existing watches which provide the vibrating feature to alert the person on the specified time. However, most of the existing watches are digital or digital based and costs high. Those digital watches produce Electro Magnetic Field (EMF) which causes health issues. In the proposed Wearable Vibrating Analog Alarm (WVAA), the vibrating motor replaces the buzzer in the existing Analog alarm clock and the setup is optimized to be wearable on the hand. So, eventually no sound will be produced and the individual can wake up from sleep or can be alerted by the vibration produced by the vibrating motor without disturbing others. The proposed WVAA is purely analog and does not emit EMF; it is also affordable. The novelty of the proposed WVAA is combining an analog alarm clock's internal setup with a button sized vibrating motor.
