ClGS solar cells were prepared on the flexible stainless steels. The device structure consists of MgF/sub 2//ITO/ZnO/CdS/ClGS/Mo/stainless steel. A compound layer that contains Na was deposited prior to the formation of the CIGS layer. An efficiency of the best cell was 17.0% (Voc = 0.628 V, Jsc = 37.2 mA./cm/sup 2/, FF = 0.723, active area = 0.96 cm/sup 2/). The Voc, Jsc and FF were improved addi...Show More
Flexible solar cells are useful for many situations such as curved surfaces, mobile devices, space uses, etc. The authors have developed flexible Cu(In,Ga)Se/sub 2/ (CIGS) solar cells with stainless steel substrates. CIGS films were deposited by an in-line evaporation system. The CIGS films have strong adhesion to Mo films. The phases of CIGS films on the stainless steel and on the glass had almos...Show More
The authors propose a new window layer of Zn/sub 1-x/Mg/sub x/O thin films with a controllable bandgap as an alternative window layer to a CdS film. Measurements of valence band offset and bandgap indicate that a conduction band offset of Zn/sub 1-x/Mg/sub x/O/CIGS layers can be controlled by Mg content of the Zn/sub 1-x/Mg/sub x/O film. They fabricated CIGS solar cells consist of an ITO/Zn/sub 1-...Show More
Thin film solar cells based on Cu(In,Ga)Se/sub 2/ films were fabricated, and their junction and photovoltaic properties were investigated. Ga in CuInSe/sub 2/ thin films formed by the so-called "bilayer process" was incorporated homogeneously. The fabricated cell structure was glass/Mo/Cu(In,Ga)Se/sub 2//CdS/ZnO/ITO(/MgF/sub 2/). The incorporation of Ga into CuInSe/sub 2/ films up to about 20 mol%...Show More
