Abstract:
This work presents some aspects and challenges of using hydrogen fuel cells to drive armored military vehicles. For this, it is important to consider the advantages and limitations of switching from the combustion engine to electric motors in combat vehicles. In this article, the Leopard 1 A5 BR vehicle of the Brazilian Army is being focused on as an example. This text deals with the main aspects of this conversion related to performance, weight, space, noise, detectable temperature, regenerative braking and autonomy.
