Abstract:
Metasurfaces can be engineered to taper the electromagnetic fields and realize radiated beams. In this paper, we present an optimization framework to design metasurfaces comprising a thickness-modulated dielectric layer above a ground plane. By taking into account all mutual coupling effects, farfield radiation patterns with high accuracy can be obtained. An example of dual-beam generation with an embedded source is demonstrated showing the potential of beamforming with lowloss and low-profile dielectric metasurfaces.
