Abstract:
Synchrophasor measurements received significant attention for power system monitoring and control in the past decade. This paper presents compliance testing of three widely used phase-locked loop (PLL) architectures for synchrophasor estimation as per IEEE standard IEC/IEEE 60255-118-1-2018. Synchronous Reference Frame (SRF) PLL, Second Order Generalised Integrator (SOGI) PLL, and Park PLL are tested as per IEEE standard IEC/IEEE 60255-118-1-2018 for synchrophasor measurement without using any pre and post-processing filters. The tunable parameters for each PLL are varied to determine the range in which they satisfy the performance metrics and comply with the standard. It is found that the PLLs cannot meet all static, dynamic test requirements with a single set of parameters, and the performance of SOGI PLL is superior to SRF and Park PLL.
