Abstract:

In this paper, a pre-saturated fault current limiter (PS-FCL) is proposed to be employed instead of the series reactors in distribution network of Mobarakeh Steel Company (MSC). In recent years, several interruptions have been reported which refer to undesirable role of the series reactors in normal condition. Significant voltage dip during heavy loads start-up is one of the main problems of the series reactors in the system. The complaints regarding the series reactors are studied as some simulation scenarios. Using PS-FCL instead of the series reactors, the same scenarios are simulated and the results are compared. The simulations are carried out using ANSYS/Maxwell and MATLAB/Simulink.
