Abstract:

Inaccuracy, or printing error, is inherent to the FDM/FFF 3D printing. It can be reduced by fine-tuning and calibrating the 3D printer and all of its components, as well as by using high-quality filament. One of the least solved problems is the suppression of the ghosting (ringing) effect arising from the low natural frequencies of the 3D printer structure. We investigate the dependence of positioning rate on the quality of 3D printed objects. A cylindrical test sample is printed at different printing settings. Then, using a run-out gauge, the printing error is detected and the printhead positioning error is calculated using analysis of variance (ANOVA). As the result, we plot the dependence of print error induced by the 3D printer vibration on the positioning rate settings.
