Abstract:
Magnetic levitation has been used widely in applications like maglev train, magnetic bearing, maglev wind turbine, etc. because of low maintenance cost. It is a highly unstable system and control of the same is a challenging one. The objective of the system is to levitate ferromagnetic objects to the desired height by adjusting the magnetization of the coil. There are numerous controllers which have been applied to the system to get stabilized. In this paper, PID and feedback linearization controllers are designed for a maglev system. From extensive simulations, it is seen that the feedback linearization controller is capable of stabilizing the system perfectly. The maglev system has been implemented in hardware and tested using a PID controller.
