Abstract:
With the emergence and development of Information Technology, language teaching and learning methods have changed from traditional grammar translation to computer-assisted language teaching and learning, and language can be acquired in distinctive “tasks”. Computer-assisted Language Learning(CALL) is a method in which language teaching and learning occur through computer-related application. With the emergence of networked computers and the Internet, individuals tend to learn a second language through online learning and offline learning. Traditional language teaching focuses more on teaching language forms, however, as English becomes a lingua franca, individuals tend to use English to communicate instead of learning forms. The aim of this essay is to explore TBLT theory from the perspectives of its principles and features, and how to apply computer-assisted language learning to TBLT. The definition of task is given, and task structure is outlined. Finally, blended learning based on CALL is discussed.
