Abstract:
Improved design of simple solar desalinator was fabricated for the conversion of seawater into potable water. The efficiency was calculated by using samples of seawater collected from Ad-Hariz region-Salalah-Oman. It was found that the samples contain minerals of very high concentrations and no bacteria presented. The average %efficiency was 16.063±3.360%. The maximum %Efficiency was 21.525 ± 0.001%. The average flow rate of pure water obtained was 2.121 ± 0.755 L/m2.d. The maximum flow rate of fresh water production was 3.0667±0.001 L/m2.d. The approximated cost for the manufactured prototype was 130 US$. The value of 426292.5 ± 20781 W/m2 per day was measured for the average accumulative Solar Flux (SF) measured during the whole experiments.
