Abstract:

Luneburg hemispherical lenses (LHL) are under consideration. An additional dielectric substrate between the flat side of the lens and conducting screen is used. Radiation properties of the LHL are analyzed. Calculations are developed with ANSYS HFSS. The substrate thickness influence on the LHL radiation pattern is under consideration for two kind of the substrate material, such as Teflon and Fiberglass (FR4). The main beam width and side lobe level is compared for several angular position of a small square horn for antenna scanning mode. The optimal substrate thickness for a 10 GHz frequency is defined.
