Abstract:
A heterogeneous cellular network (HCNet) is one of the key enabling technologies to improve performance gain in future cellular networks. In the literature, the location of users is modeled according to homogeneous Poisson point process (HPPP), which is not a suitable assumption in HCNets. In this paper, the users in the network are assumed to be a set of uniformly distributed users and clustered users, which are modeled according to HPPP and Poisson cluster process (PCP), respectively. The small base stations (SBSs) are deployed at the center of user cluster. We evaluate the network performance in terms of outage probability and rate coverage of the proposed HCNet model. The results show that the proposed model surpasses the conventional uniformly distributed users model.
