Abstract:
A hybrid plasmon waveguide comprising with metal and dielectric nanowires has been investigated employing the finite element method. At the telecommunication wavelength, strong SPP-dielectric mode coupling in this structure gives rise to capacitor like electromagnetic energy localization in the dielectric gap with extremely low effective area (~λ2/600) and appreciable propagation length. Apart from the fundamental gap mode, the structure has been reported to excite a long ranging hybrid mode with moderate mode size. The feasibility of this structure has been explored in different nanophotonic applications considering the derived modal parameters.
