Abstract:
In this paper, an alternative modeling method of an “embedded” induction machine (IM) with slot/space harmonics is presented. The model eliminates the need for time-consuming matrix inversion. Instead, the inverted inductance matrix of the machine (or the reluctance matrix) is obtained as an inverse of a partitioned matrix. Afterwards, the obtained reluctance matrix can be easily included in the conductance matrix of the network solution. The comparison between the classical and the proposed model shows much faster execution time of the proposed model with minimal differences between their outputs. In this way, the disadvantages of the “embedded” approach are reduced while preserving numerical stability. The implementation of the proposed model on a real-time simulator is validated by comparing the obtained frequencies for the slot/space harmonics with known mathematical relations.
