Abstract:
One of the most important and potential source of renewable energy is the wind energy. Various studies have shown that variable speed wind turbines are highly efficient than the fixed ones. However, they inject harmonic currents in the network, which may potentially create voltage distortion problems. In this paper, a case study for a 10-MW wind mill is presented and the system has been modelled for the harmonic load-flow calculation. The harmonic impedance of the system is calculated for a variety of configurations and operating conditions. Harmonic load-flow calculations are provided to indicate potential voltage distortion problems. A simplified methodology is applied to the system and its results are compared to those of the harmonic load flow. The paper uses the application of Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) to perform Harmonic Analysis under different fault conditions and finally the simulated result is obtained.
