Abstract:
This paper proposes a study of complex relative permittivity (ϵr=ϵr'-jϵr") for monitoring watermelon. The complex relative permittivity of peel and pulp are analyzed as variation of maturity stages and used for determining mature fruit of watermelon from the measured reflection coefficient. The results depict the operating frequency is in the range 0.8 to 3 GHz. The distinct difference of reflection coefficient for immature and mature watermelon presented the feasibility to design a watermelon classification system.
