Abstract:

Full duplex MIMO communication is one of the key techniques for 5G wireless communication. The main challenge in full duplex operation is the cancellation of the self-interference (SI). In this paper, Transmit Antenna Cancellation technique is considered with symmetric placement of antennas to cancel SI in full duplex MIMO systems. The performance of a full duplex system with this cancellation technique may degrade due to phase offset and channel fading. Analytical model of signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR) of a full duplex MIMO system is developed considering phase offset and channel fading for studying their impact on the performance of the system. Uplink capacity as well as outage probability of the full duplex MIMO system is determined numerically by using the developed analytical model. The results show that the performance of full duplex MIMO system significantly degrades due to channel fading and phase offset. It is also found that the performance of the system degrades with increasing the number of transmit antennas and decreasing the number of receive antennas at the full duplex transceiver.
