Abstract:
Web caching has been used extensively to enhance Web delivery to clients by minimizing the latency perceived by clients, reducing network bandwidth usage, reducing power consumption and improving the network quality of service. Caching performance can be improved by implementing an efficient replacement policy to be used for proper cache replacement. In mobile networks, the movement of users presents significant technical challenges to provide efficient access to the Internet, because the mobile users' locations and the network attachment point will vary in time. In this survey, various conventional replacement policies for the mobile environment proposed in literature is listed and classified based on the methodology used in eviction.
