Abstract:

The main objective of this paper is to develop a model of an inductor dedicated to the monolithic integration of DC/DC converters for mobile phone applications. Numerical simulation based on the finite element method shows that in contrast to 2D models, modeling of 3D integrated inductors can better estimate the electrical parameters of the desired inductor. The optimization of these values is based on the numerical analysis of the geometrical parameters influence on the inductor electrical characteristics. The VHDL-AMS simulation results of the optimal inductor implemented in a micro-converter prove that it has a very promising approach for the DC/DC monolithic integration converters.
