Abstract:

Dual two level inverter with open end winding can work as three level inverter. Inverter fed drives suffer from common mode issues like shaft voltage, ground currents and bearing currents. Dual inverter fed open end winding induction motor also suffer from these problems. This paper proposes passive filter configuration for reducing shaft voltage, ground currents and bearing current problems in dual two level open end winding drive. Well known space vector PWM (SVPWM) technique is used to verify the effectiveness of this filter configuration. This paper also presents a motor model for shaft voltage of this drive. Motor model and filter topology is first verified through MATLAB simulation and validated by experimental results.
