Abstract:

Although, there are several software reliability models existing today, yet for software in the useful life where no upgradation, debugging or modification is done and also where no efforts are taken to avoid the errors, there exists several contradicting opinions. Some people say that in the useful life the reliability is time dependent others say that they are independent of time. In the literature, many software reliability models had been developed in compatible with hardware reliability models which are directly a function of time. This paper analyzes these aspects with the existing software reliability models, determines their deficiencies and effectiveness, and finally proposes an innovative error based generalized model for predicting the minimum reliability of software.
