Abstract:
This paper on the systematization of experiences aims to discuss the potential of Game Jams as an experiential learning activity in the region, focusing on the experience of the CIDeV community in Costa Rica. A historical review was conducted, and a questionnaire was administered to measure participants’ perceptions regarding skills and main motivators. The results show that many participants believe their soft and technical skills improve significantly after a Game Jam, especially when working with people from other disciplines. These spaces focus not only on learning but also on networking and connections. In conclusion, Game Jams are events where students can be creative, have fun, learn, apply their knowledge, and work in an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary setting. Participation is primarily motivated by an interest in video games and the satisfaction of building a unique product. Initiatives like CIDeV enable people with diverse backgrounds to collaborate, following a social constructivist approach where individuals with varying levels of expertise work together.
