Abstract:
This Paper describes results of the research project ''SMECON-Box'' (Smart-MEter-CONtrol Box). In this project, an algorithm for a smart FNN control box, the so called SMECON-Box, is implemented. The algorithm curtails the charging power of an EV in case of grid overloading. To keep the communication needs as low as possible, the SMECON-Box should decide by itself, based on local measurements, if the grid is overloaded. The first part of the paper describes the implementation of the algorithm and the updates, that have been applied since the previous publication [1]. In the second part of the paper the challenges of the actual implementation of the project are highlighted. There have been several obstacles mainly related to communication between the different devices which prevented an easy implementation in the field. These obstacles and the remedial actions that have been applied to start the field tests are described here.
