Abstract:
We explore the polarization fading in a fiber-optic Michelson interferometer equipped with Faraday mirrors. Polarization fading can occur when the rotators within the mirrors experience faults. We propose a method for identifying the vulnerability of the interferometer to polarization fading in the case of a rotator malfunction. This approach only requires varying the state of polarization at the interferometer's input. Notably, it proves adequate to only vary the azimuth of linearly polarized light.
