Abstract:
In this work, a wide-angle millimeter-wave phased array is proposed based on dual-mode patch elements. With the joint excitation of the TM11 and TM01 modes, the proposed array can enable one-dimensional wide-angle scanning performance. Additionally, by applying a four-element sub-array with in-phase and Dolph-Chebyshev excitations for each channel, directive patterns with low sidelobe levels in the orthogonal main plane of each beam can be achieved. The profile of the fabricated prototype is 0.145λ0, where λ0 is the free-space wavelength at 26 GHz. It experimentally achieves a matched band ranging from 23.4 to 25.5 GHz, a scanning coverage of ±70° with a gain reduction of less than 3 dB and a SLL of -9 dB. In the orthogonal main plane of the beam, a directive pattern with a SLL of -22 dB can be obtained.
